Hi, I'm Shelly!

I'm the creator of Cosmos Adventures, a children's book series inspired by my lifelong love of travel, learning, and exploring the world.

I grew up in a small town in Nova Scotia, Canada, where I spent countless hours watching travel shows and dreaming about the incredible places I'd one day visit. Even as a kid, I couldn't wait for my first trip to Europe. There was something magical about discovering new countries, different cultures, and ways of life.

That curiosity never faded. In fact, it only grew stronger with every place I visited and every new culture I experienced.

Over the years,

I've been fortunate to explore many incredible places. I traveled throughout Northern Canada while working as a school and family photographer, and later spent 12 years living in Southeast Asia. Along the way, I wandered through ancient streets, admired famous landmarks, tasted incredible local foods, learned words in new languages, and met wonderful people from around the world.

Every journey taught me something new and deepened my appreciation for the cultures, traditions, and stories that make every country unique.

As I traveled, one thought kept coming back to me:

What if children could experience that same excitement and curiosity through books, even before they had the chance to travel themselves?

That's how Cosmos was born.

Cosmos is a curious little explorer who loves discovering new places, meeting new friends, and learning about the world one adventure at a time. Through her adventures, children can visit famous landmarks, discover local traditions, learn simple words in different languages, and see that our differences make our world even more wonderful.

Why I Created Cosmos Adventures

I created Cosmos Adventures because I believe learning about different countries should be exciting, memorable, and fun.

Through each adventure, children can explore famous landmarks, discover local traditions, learn new words, and experience cultures from around the world, all alongside Cosmos the cat.

My hope is that these stories inspire curiosity, kindness, and a lifelong love of learning. Whether a child dreams of traveling the world one day or simply enjoys exploring from the comfort of home, I want every adventure to remind them that there's always something new to discover.

Because sometimes the greatest journeys begin with turning the very first page.
